This trip extends recent reconnaisance trips to the area. From Newnes we will ascend through the spectacular Altar Room and then try to follow a previously untried slot into the headwaters of the Eastern tributary of Canobla Creek. The creek is dry, quite open and easy going. We will head North and then East, trying to find a way up to the top of Cathedral Pass on the South East side of Mount Tricky. If we're successful we will descend Cathedral Pass to Newnes. If not, we will return to Canobla Creek, exiting through a slot on the Western side of the creek, and go back down through Altar Room. Be prepared for a few false leads and a bit of scrambling but not serious exposure.
