Trip Report - Du Faurs Canyon - 27 December 2008 The group - Kate (leader), Steve, Mat, Karin, Rogo, Sean, Joe and Geoff. We enjoyed a pleasant walk in to the canyon entry where lilos were inflated and wetsuits donned. The canyon began with a few wades but before long we immersed in its chilly waters for some short swims or paddles. These proved very refreshing on a sultry day. The water level was low considering the recent rain. After some rock scrambling we reached a constricted section for a long swim with vertical rock walls towering above. The canyon was magnificent here.  Rogo pointed out ledges where you could rest if needed during the swim. Wades through a more open part of the canyon followed, punctuated by scrambles over rocks. At times it was necessary to thread our way through sections of the canyon choked by wattles. Exploration of a tight side canyon revealed a wonderful moss wall. We progressed into a deeply incised section with great cliffs and more deep swims. Lunch was taken on a sandy beach opposite a deep pool. More astute canyoners found a way to walk around the pool to avoid the swim. Then it was off deeper into the canyon for a long swim and our exit up Joes canyon. A testing walk up to the Mt Wilson car park followed to end a great day.   A shallow pool Upper Blue Mountains Bushwalking Club Copyright © 2009 - 2011 - Upper Blue Mountains Bushwalking Club
